Dallas Novak swore off women after his fiancée broke their engagement when his parents died. His plans were drastically changed when he was suddenly responsible for his family and their ranch, Novak Springs. Resigned to his new life, he threw himself into making the ranch successful alongside his siblings. They were the only things he had room for in his life. That changes when his little sister comes home from college with a broken heart of her own. She needs a distraction and has an idea for a Cowgirl Yoga program on the ranch. Dallas reluctantly agrees to give her new business a trial run so she has something to keep her mind off her lost love.

Ginnifer Zeiss is a well-established journalist for a prominent magazine in New York. When Emma Novak approaches her to write an article for her new business, she drops everything to experience what a real ranch is like. She had secretly always loved ranches and is attracted to sexy cowboys. So with her best friend in tow, they prepare to experience a horse ranch in Washington state.

When Dallas meets Ginnifer he is instantly attracted to her. He starts to question his rule of only spending one night with a woman and forgetting about her. The more time he spends in Ginnifer’s company, the more he wonders if he can live without her. Can he get over the betrayal he felt when his ex-fiancée left him long enough to grab happiness?

Excerpt

“I should’ve known I could find you here.” Ginnifer turned to see Dallas leaning against one of the posts in the barn. “I think you may have made a friend for life,” he said.

“She’s a beautiful horse,” Ginnifer replied as she was petting Olympia’s mane. “I thought it would be too late to come and see you, so I decided to visit with these two wonderful creatures.”

Dallas sauntered over to where Ginnifer was standing and pulled her into his arms. Once she was fully seated within his embrace, she looked up into his eyes. A smile only a man could possibly portray crossed his face. Leaning his face closer to hers, he told her, “It’s never too late for you to come see me, Gin.”

Ginnifer crinkled her nose up and shook her head at him. “Yes, tonight would’ve been, but only because I had no idea where to find you in that house or if it was unlocked for me to find you.”

Dallas pulled her closer as he leaned down and brushed his lips against her cheek. Bringing his mouth up to her ear, he whispered, “Well, we can remedy that now. I can show you exactly where you can find me each night.”

Ginnifer laughed and pulled away from him. “In a bit of a hurry are you?”

With a devilish grin Dallas said, “Absolutely.”

“I don’t know that I’m done visiting with Olympia and her baby. Does he have a name yet?” she asked.

Dallas shook his head. “No, why don’t you name him?”

Excitement filling her voice, she said, “Really? Oh, I have to think about this…he’s so beautiful, he needs a name to match.”
Dallas laughed as Ginnifer bubbled with excitement. “Do you have anything in mind to fit such lofty expectations?”

“What do you think about calling him Eros?” she asked.

Dallas pulled back and looked at her, shock evident on his face. “The God of Love?”

“Yes, because everyone that looks at him will fall instantly in love with him. I think it’s very appropriate.”

Smiling down at her, Dallas nodded his head in agreement. He leaned down and kissed her forehead before saying, “It is perfect. Are you ready to stay the night with me, or do you want to visit with Olympia and Eros longer?”

Ginnifer was more than ready to spend the night with him. The more time she spent with him, the harder it was to leave. She was already in too deep to pull herself out. It was starting to look like she might be nursing a broken heart when she went back to New York. There was no way she was going to deny herself whatever time she had with him. So with that decision made, she nodded her head in affirmation and agreed, “Yes, take me to your bed.”

Dallas smiled as he pulled away from her. He grabbed her hand in his and pulled her along with him out of the barn. Ginnifer thought he would be in a hurry to get her inside of his bedroom, but he strolled along in a slow, lazy pace as they followed the path to the house. Dallas confused her at every turn. She thought all he wanted from her was sex, but the more she got to know him, it seemed like he genuinely liked to spend time with her. It was a conundrum she couldn’t pick apart and solve. When they got to the steps leading to the front door, Dallas stopped and pulled her into his arms. He brought his lips to hers in a quick scorching kiss before letting her go. Ginnifer felt butterflies growing inside of her stomach. The man was constantly surprising her.

Brushing his hands alongside of her cheek, he pushed back her hair. “I just needed to do that once before I got you inside.”
“You don’t see me complaining.”

A bark of laughter floated through the air. “That’s what I love about you, Gin. You constantly surprise me. Come on, let’s get inside,” he said as he grabbed her hand again. They stepped quietly into the house as he led her to his bedroom.

If Ginnifer was confused before, she was even more so now. What did he mean when he said he loved that about me? Those words scared her, but she wasn’t going to allow them to interfere with her night. She had been looking forward to spending this time with Dallas all day. She needed it. So when Dallas opened his bedroom door, Ginnifer left her reservations behind as she followed him inside.

Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh-Review

Rock Addiction cover

Goodreads: http://bit.ly/1kdgjGW

RELEASE DATE: September 9th, 2014

I had the pleasure of receiving a review copy of Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh. I read it in less than a day…probably mere hours I got so engrossed in this story.

***First a Disclaimer***

This book contains sex…lots and lots of glorious sex. If you have a problem with that don’t read it. If you, like me, don’t mind sex thrown into your stories read on my friend…

It was beautiful, dark, sexy, and naughty in all the right ways. I ate it up like it was my favorite candy. Getting caught up in the descriptions of Fox’s sexy rock voice and the lifestyle of Schoolboy Choir. (what a name for a rockband!). The more the story went on the more I wanted. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series. I *need* to read about Noah and Kit, David and Thea…and PLEASE let poor Abe find his soul mate. I didn’t even mention T-Rex and Charlotte…surely we’ll find out how that story plays out. I *need* so much…

Have I mentioned yet how much I LOVED this book? Oh yeah…Rock Addiction is the perfect title. I’m already addicted and I need my next fix. NalinI when oh when will it come my way?

One of my favorite little excerpts from the book…

A fallen angel might have a voice like that, she thought, hard and pure and with an unashamed sexuality to it that invited the listener into sin. It made her eyes burn, tears roll down her face. (Rock Addiction–Nalini Singh)

I cannot say enough good things about the awesomeness of this book. If I am forced to give it a rating I would do the five stars multiplied by a billion and one…and that wouldn’t even be enough. Hats off to you Nalini Singh for sucking me into another one of your worlds. (I’m forever your slave 😀 )

Blurb

A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…

Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.

A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…

Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…

Rude Much? Why no…why do you ask? An author’s view of the world outside of writing…

special

When I wrote my first novella last December I can honestly say I never planned on writing a book. I kind of just fell into it. This may irritate those that have struggled for a while to get something written and published, but it doesn’t negate my achievements. In fact, I’d say I look at my first book and cringe with all the mistakes I see in it.  I still have A LOT to learn about writing, but I can tell you I’ve learned a lot about myself on this journey.

Some people are truly happy for me and my minor success…and it is minor…because I’m leaps and bounds away from having a best seller and making tons of money. In fact to date I’ve made less than $2 on A Flawed Jewel. While that will probably grow on my next royalty statement nothing is given in the world of publishing. Just because my book was accepted and released does not mean people will run out and buy it. (Although if you wanna help a girl out…*winks*)

Let me explain how writing has changed my life. I have constant ideas floating through my head. I’m churning out ideas much slower than they form. I have oodles of ideas lined up on books I want to write at some point and have little time to do it. One other thing has changed and that’s how much I talk about writing. It has become important to me and therefore I share and share often. I talk about my woes and I shout loudly when I finish something. If I have a goal I want to let the world know I met it. I started a new book–Yay! I finished the rough draft–double yay. Man today I’m slacking and got zero written–Big frowny face. The biggest thing I have learned is patience. Something you need a great amount of if you want to be a writer.

My point of this post is that this is my life now. I’m not going to apologize to anyone out there because writing now consumes me. It is a part of me in a way I never thought possible and I don’t feel like I need to justify it. You don’t like it? Don’t pay attention to it. If you are happy for me let me know. If you don’t care…well carry on my peeps. Just the way I plan on doing. If you have questions feel free to ask. I’m more than willing to share my limited knowledge. (Again it is LIMITED as I’m still a newbie with a lot to learn myself.)

Anywho…its something to think on. Writers can get sucked into there own world and often times don’t see what’s happening around them. When they do come up for air…well it’s up to you if they like what they find, but don’t worry no matter what it will fuel some ideas for future work. Don’t be surprised if a character resembles you in many ways only to die a horrible death. (kidding…mostly)

Here is a blurb:

A bad day spins out of control when Cadence finds herself in the middle of the Tulgy Wood with a grinning cat who can vanish at will and a renown Wonderland hero in need of a companion to the Red Queen’s court.

What happens when the hero who saved Wonderland from the destruction of the famed Jabberwock needs to find a worthy paramour before the Red Queen picks one for him? Devrel, the last of the Cheshire cats, has the perfect solution. He’ll just pluck one from the human world and gift her to him for his un-birthday.

Realizing her friends were playing a joke on her, Cadence is heading home when she sees the cat smiling at her. Next thing she knows, she’s in Wonderland and in the arms of a handsome man who thinks she’s slightly unhinged upon meeting her. Intrigued by Gareth, Cadence makes an offer to act as his companion in exchange for his protection as they journey from the Tulgy Wood to the Red Kingdom—a simple solution which endangers both of their hearts as the castle looms in the distance.

Excerpt:

“Devrel,” the man called out. His forehead scrunched up, and she wondered what troubled such a handsome man so.

The grinning cat appeared on the man’s shoulder, towering over him as he leaned down and answered, actually answered, with, “She’s rather odd, isn’t she?”

At this, Cadence lost it. She laughed, only to be forced into a fit of hysterical giggles when both the man and the cat glanced at each other and back at her.

“Mayhap I broke her,” Devrel said, smile faltering ever so slightly as he reached down and swiped at the air in front of her face with huge paw.

The man sighed and shook his head. The hair falling over his forehead bounced with the movement. “Why did you bring her?”

“Bring whom?”

He pinned Devrel with a glare.

The cat snickered. “I jest. It’s what I do. As for the girl…” Devrel faced her again. “Let me fetch her some borogove feathers. We can mash them up to powder and have her drink them with tea. I believe she’s befuddled.”

A Letter to My Muse

Muse-letter-exercise

I don’t know about any one else, but my muse is driving me batty. In a good way I suppose, but also in a sleep deprived please attach a IV drip of caffeine to my body so I can get through the day way.

Dear Muse-

I appreciate that you keep me overflowing with ideas. A few tips though so I can keep up with it all. Could you maybe spring them on me, I don’t know, when I’m sitting down watching a show that I don’t care about or even when I’m sitting at my computer perusing Facebook while I’m bored?

Places to avoid jumping me with ideas, the bathroom, the shower, driving, oh and sleeping. All of these are counterproductive to doing something with the information. The last time you hit me with an idea while driving I had to do a voice memo on my phone. I’m not even sure it made sense, but I had to get it all down lest I lose it. It did result in a 75k rough draft named Perceptive Soul so I suppose it wasn’t all bad. I won’t mention how I ended up with a historical series that should have only been one stand alone book because you interrupted my sleep, and is now six stories either written or planned. (or the notes I have on a chick who falls through time because of a whacked out dream. Yeah…but I digress)

So anyway, Dear Dear Muse of mine. I’m falling apart at the seams. I can’t keep up. Give me some time to catch up before you throw any more ideas my way. I promise I will appreciate them more when you do.

Cheekily Yours,

Dawn

I do appreciate the muse that visits me. He (As I like to think of him as an uber sexy piece of man flesh) gives me wonderful fascinating ideas. Maybe instead of flooding my imagination with these story ideas you could just give me a little….wait that isn’t suitable innocent eyes and ears…a tale for another time. I will leave you with what my imaginary muse looks like. (yeah he does look an awful lot like Ian Somerhalder…he’s my dream guy)
