Review: I’ve Got My Duke to Keep Me Warm by Kelly Bowen

Gisele, with the help of some good friends, faked her own death. Her husband was both mentally and physically abusive. She makes it her mission to help others in similar circumstances. She is safely presumed dead and she likes it that way. There is a certain freedom in being dead. Until she can no longer pretend she has a husband, one who intends to remarry. She cannot allow him to harm another woman the way he did with her.

James is an ex Calvary captain. He sold his commission to help out a woman in need. He is penniless and miserable, wallowing in his own guilt. Until he meets Gisele and finds a road to redemption. He agrees to help her on her crusade and falls in love with her along the way.

They both find something in each other they desperately need and yet are almost too afraid to reach out and take. It’s a wonderful story about two people who not only need each other, love each other beyond reason.

I loved this book and it does a wonderful job of making you feel some emotions you don’t really want to feel. If you want something both emotional and exciting at the same time I suggest you give it a try.
